During the day, the scrip jumped 3.96 per cent to touch intra-day high of Rs 2,535, but erased some gains to end the day at Rs 2518.25, up 3.28 per cent on BSE.
On NSE, it gained 4.06 per cent to touch intra-day high of Rs 2,538.10 before ending the day at Rs 2,519.05, up 3.27 per cent.
Bajaj Auto today posted 57.9 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 933.06 crore for the second quarter ended September 30.
Net sales of the company rose by 2.63 per cent to Rs 5,980.63 crore during the second quarter under review, as against Rs 5,826.85 crore in the year-ago period, Bajaj Auto said in a filing to the BSE.
During the second quarter, the company sold 9,03,097 motorcycles in domestic as well as international markets.
As on September 30, the surplus cash and cash equivalents of the company stood at Rs 10,234 crore.
