Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF) today invited industrialists from the region to start ventures in the Free Trade Zone mooted by the Sharjah government.
A delegation led by Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Commercial Director, SAIF, gave a detailed account of the facility at a seminar on 'International Business Forum-Taking Business Globally,' organised by the local chapter of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry here.
The SAIF zone has emerged as an ideal hub for all types of businesses in terms of its location, connectivity, infrastructural facilities, besides tax exemption on all import and export, Mohammed said.
Out of over 7,000 licenses issued for setting up business so far, eight per cent were from India, he pointed out.
Stating that an additional area of three million square metres was purchased for the purpose, Mohammed said warehouse had been constructed and started allotting space.
The existing facility was spread over an area of nine million square metres, with an occupancy rate of close to 80 per cent, he added.
