Sharmila Nicollet made a strong comeback today to lead the field by three strokes at the close of second day's play on the third leg of Hero Women's Pro golf tour 2013 at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club.
Sharmila, who carded a one-under 69 today, has a total of 140 after two rounds. Smriti Mehra (68,75) and Neha Tripathi (75,68) are tied second with identical scores of 143.
Sharmila, who started off trailing behind overnight leader Smriti Mehra by three shots, sank in three birdies on the first, eighth and 14th holes. Bogeys on the second and seventh holes were the only blemishes on her card.
Smriti, winner of the second leg, had an erratic day with three birdies (4th, 8th, 12th), four bogeys (1st, 7th, 9th, 11th) and two double bogeys (13th and 18th) to finish the day at five over 75 to be placed at the tied second position with Neha.
Kolkata's Neha Tripathi played some consistent golf to finish her second round with the best individual score of the day of two under 68 with birdies on the fifth, 11th and 18th and a solitary bogey on the sixth.
Rani Sonti carded five over 75 and is placed fourth with a score of 148. Vani Kapoor and Saaniya Sharma are joint fifth with total scores of 152 after two rounds of the Rs five lakh prize money event.
