Sharmila Nicollet retains lead after round 2 of the first leg

Bengaluru golfer Sharmila Nicollet held on to her overnight lead to finish on top after the second round of Leg 1 of the Hero Women's Professional Golf tour 2014 being played at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club here.
It was another tough day for the golfers as they struggled to score and Sharmila's round one performance helped her retain her lead.
On day two, she returned with a score of six-over 78 and had a total score of 154 at the end of the second round. She carded three birdies on the sixth, 15th and 16th holes and has a single shot lead over Vani Kapoor, who made a remarkable comeback to finish second after round two.
Vani had the best score of the day with a one-over 73 and a total of 155. She had birdies on the fourth, 14th and 16th.
Local girl Neha Tripathi also had a much better outing today, as she returned with a decent four-over 76 to end round two at third position with total score of 157.
Smriti Mehra had another disappointing day at the office, as she finished at fourth position with a second round score of 80 and a total score of 160.
Preetinder Kaur, Shweta Galande and Nikki Ponappa are tied at fifth position with identical scores of 161.
The Rs. 5,000,000 event is the first in the series of 14 this year.
