Sharp hike in court fees in Delhi

The government has issued a notification to implement the the Court Fees (Delhi Amendment) Act 2012 which provides for hike in court fees.

The court fees were last amended in 1958. The revenue collection from court fees is expected to go up to Rs 500 crore annually from current Rs 50 crore when the new rates come into effect.

The budget session of Delhi assembly in June had approved the amensment bill.

The hike in court fees will mean people will have to pay more on stamp duty for sworn affidavits, agreement of tenancy, mortgage deeds, power of attorney and other instruments.
