"Smoke started billowing out of a coach as a result of a spark in the brake windings of the train due to friction soon after it left Farraka station," Station Superintendent of Pakur, B K Das said.
The passengers raised an alarm on seeing smoke in the train which was stopped at Outer Pakur station in Pakur district of Jharkhand, he said.
The train did not have a scheduled stoppage here.
A team of technical experts rushed to the spot from Pakur station and rectified the fault, Das said.
