Shatner calls Abrams "a pig" for directing Star Wars
Press Trust of India Los Angeles Actor William Shatner, who has played captain James T Kirk in seven 'Star Trek' films, has called the sci-fi series' two-time director JJ Abrams "a pig" for taking up the next 'Star Wars' film. Abrams, who has directed two 'Star Trek' films, has recently signed up to helm 'Star Wars Episode VII', the first film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and Shatner is not very happy about it, reported E! online. "He's being a pig. He's collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest. He's probably the most talented director of that ilk that we have, but he's gone too far this time," Shatner was quoted as telling Movie Fanatic. The 81-year-old actor also said that Abrams, 46, was a good friend of his and joked about not being a part of the two franchises anymore. "I think of him as a buddy of mine. I've taken him out for sushi. I think it's time for JJ and I to have another sushi and let me put him straight about two of the largest franchises - and not employing me in either one of them is just foolhardy," said Shatner. Meanwhile, 'Star Trek: Into Darkness', sans Shatner, opens in theaters on May 17.
