Senior BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha today stirred a hornet's nest by saying that leaders like Sushma Swaraj and others have been sidelined in elevating Narendra Modi in the party and that he cannot become Prime Minister without their "blessings and support".
"Leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Murali Manohar Joshi and Jaswant Singh have been in the party since its formation. If you are not including them, then it will be difficult. They can't be sidelined and without their blessings you cannot choose a Prime Minister or anoint a PM," he told TV channels.
Describing various committees, announced by the party last week to work under Modi, Sinha said these committees are like lollipops in which leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Jaswant Singh, Yashwant Sinha and Murali Manohar Joshi have been accommodated.
"But they are not seen in the larger canvass. Arun Jaitley is seen a little, but Sushma Swaraj is not to be seen. She has not got the play she deserves," he said.
