Sheila thanks teachers for help in improving board exam

Praising teachers from across Delhi, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said it was the "constructive cooperation" which had helped improve the board examination reults significantly.
"Their constructive cooperation has helped in bringing improvement in board results from 36 per cent to more than 90 per cent," she said adding the teachers have been imparting not only useful and quality education but they are also instilling the moral values.
Dikshit said the extension in service span has been granted to teachers with an aim to utilize their rich experience.
Terming the Chief Minister's decision of extension of service age of teachers as "bold", Education Minister Kiran Walia said Dikshit had also directed the officers to take a positive view on the issue of extension of age in the service for teachers.
"The officers were also told to make appropriate amendment in rules if required," she said while also thanking Dikshit for her liberal views on expansion and improvement in education sector.
MLA Bijender Singh said Dikshit has always been sympathetic to the needs of the teachers, demanded granting status of class-II Gazetted officer to PGTs/lecturers in Delhi as the same has been granted to PGTs/lecturers in government schools in Haryana.
