Dismissing the belief that a chief minister will loose his chair after visiting Chamarajnagar, Shettar said "I will end this jinx. I am confident that the BJP will return to power after the assembly elections and I will again become the chief minister."
"This is an illusion. I have visited this place as a rural development minister, revenue minister and Speaker. But after my visit I have always got a promotion," Shettar added.
The CM assured people that he would ensure development of Hogenakal falls and Himad Gopalaswamy hillock, both tourist spots, besides ensuring water and power supply to various tribal hamlets in the district.
Earlier, he visited the Mahadeshwara temple at M M Hills and offered prayers.
About six years ago, JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy visited Chamarajnagar as chief minister, but his government was toppled by BJP as it withdrew support after JDS refused to transfer power to it under power sharing agreement.
