The case of recovery of the skeletal remains of four-year-old Yug, kidnapped two years ago, echoed in the Vidhan Sabha today with BJP member Suresh Bharadwaj and Anirudh Singh (Congress) raising the issue through a calling attention motion.
The Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) came under fire as the members demanded strict action against the accused and also dissolution of the SMC for its utter failure to provide clean water to the residents.
Moving the motion, Suresh Bhardwaj said while Shimla had earned a bad image across the nation for this crime, the SMC was once again exposed for its failure to provide safe drinking water to the locals.
"Media reports say that the skeleton of the boy was recovered from MC's water tank after two years.
"The Corporation, which has already earned bad name in the country for the worst jaundice outbreak due to mixing of sewage with main water supply, has once again failed to perform its duty," he said.
The BJP leader said the MC had been claiming that it cleaned the tanks in the city earlier this year and had even submitted an affidavit in this regard.

"Then how a skeleton, tied to a stone and packed in a sack, was found in the water tank," he asked.
"The Police could not trace Yug despite so many developments in the case for two years and the MC staff could not find it while cleaning the tanks. It is a serious issue as the supply from that water tank goes to different localities," he said.
He targeted the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation for "abjectfailure" and demanded dissolution of the MC.
"It is a question of law and order and also pertains to Shimla MC," he said and asked the government to ensure that the trial in the murder case was conducted by a fast track court and immediate action was taken against the MC.
Congress member, Anirudh Singh said the CID must come out with the detail whether the remains of the child's body were found inside the water tank.
He said the district administration should lodge an FIR against the Municipal Corporation for this negligence or he would himself do it.
"The officers responsible should be suspended and the MC should be dissolved immediately," he demanded.
In his reply, Urban Development minister, Sudhir Sharma said the government would take strict action against all those involved in the case and the Chief Minister has already clarified it.
"Anything can be said only after the report of the forensic lab," he said.
He said the MC has, however, held that the tanks were cleaned and the water reports were okay.
"But whether all this was done on paper or in reality, we will enquire into it and take action against officials guilty of negligence. The government will also consider dissolution of the MC," he said.
