Shinde to inaugurate integrated check post in Tripura

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde would inaugurate an integrated check post (ICP) in the presence of Bangladesh Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir at Indo-Bangla border at Akhaura on Sunday.
Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pankaj Saran is also likely to be present in the inauguration of the ICP built at a cost of Rs 73.5 crore, the foundation of which was laid by then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in May 2011.
The Akhaura ICP, the first of its kind between India and Bangladesh would have modern terminal building for passage of people from the two countries, well equipped customs and immigration centres, high security equipments, weigh bridges, currency exchange and internet facility, banks etc.
Officials expect that its inauguration would boost trade between the two countries. This ICP, second largest after the Petrapole-Benapole transacts business of more than Rs 300 crore per annum.
When Tripura share 856 KM long border with Bangladesh, India shares a 4,096 km border with its eastern neighbour.
