Ship assns in India plan roadshows across the globe for a year

India's leading shipping associations have jointly planned a series of roadshows across the globe for a year, to interact with owners of foreign ships and their representatives residing in several countries.
The shipowners associations include The Maritime Association of Shipowners, Shipmanagers and Agents (MASSA), The Maritime Union of India (MUI) and National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI).
In a joint statement, issued by the maritime associations, it said that in association with the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, these bodies will interact with private shipowners of Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, UK, Norway, Greece, Japan and so on.
"Make in India concept mooted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspires capabilities of Indians amongst the stakeholders across the globe, a delegation of Indian maritime stalwarts will travel all over the world over next 12-months to promote Indian seafarers amongst shipowners," said MUI General Secretary Amar Singh Thakur.
He said that they plan to hold such networking events at Indian Embassies across continents.
Abdulgani Serang, general secretary of NUSI said, "A detailed marketing plan has already been submitted to the Ministry of Shipping."
In a first in India after 1947, the Indian maritime industry will initiate such a massive global marketing blitz to update foreign shipowners on maritime skills of Indian seafarers, said the statement.
