Purandare, known for his work on life of Shivaji, was speaking at a programme here yesterday to mark 340th year of coronation of Shivaji as the 'king', where he was felicitated for his contribution in spreading knowledge on life of Maratha warrior Shivaji.
The coronation of Shivaji maharaj took place on 6th June, 1674 and it took some 18-month preparation for the grand programme, Purandare said.
He said Pandit Gaga Bhatt, from Benaras was specially invited for the ceremony and he happened to be a Maharashtrian.
