Defending Shiv Sena, the party headed by his estranged cousin Uddhav Thackeray, MNS chief Raj Thackeray today said the Shiv Sena MP who tried to force-feed a fasting Muslim employee of Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi did not seem to have done so deliberately.
The last week's incident which came to light only two days ago has sparked off nation-wide outrage and also led to ruckus in Parliament.
"I don't think the Sena MP (Rajan Vichare) who did this was aware of the staffer's religion. He was peeved over the bad quality of food and wanted to express his anger. He has apologised. We should let the matter rest there," Raj told reporters.
"It was expression of anger over bad food so I don't think one should attribute any other colour to it."
But the MNS chief also said that he wondered why the Shiv Sena MPs were not as aggressive when it came to addressing the issues faced by common man.
