The activists held a protest with empty water buckets and electric fans held in their hands as they raised slogans against the state government for its failure to provide basic facilities to the people of the region.
"As the mercury has touched 45 degree Celsius in Jammu, electricity and water supply seems to have vanished into thin air," Jammu president, Shiv Sena and Dogra Front, Ashok Gupta said.
He said that the lack of potable water and electricity has sent people of Jammu region back to the Stone Age.
In the past two days, Gupta said, 178 transformers have been damaged while another 428 were lying unrepaired in workshops for the past two weeks.
"In such scorching heat people in several areas have been without electricity for the past 25 days and the government and the power department seems to be least bothered about them," he said.
Gupta said the promises to by BJP and deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh to end the discrimination and provide 24 hours electricity to Jammu region seems to have fallen flat.
