Hitting back at Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav today said it does not behove BJP president Amit Shah to "level baseless, false and negative allegations" against him and dared him to prove the charges.
In a statement issued here, Shivpal said Shah's comments are misleading and aimed at creating confusion.
"If he has any proof then he should make it public, otherwise he should apologise for his statement which is aimed at tarnishing my image," he said.
Earlier, addressing a meeting of booth incharge of Kanpur and Bundelkhand regions in Kanpur, Shah claimed that Shivpal was responsible for the violence in Mathura and sought his immediate resignation.
Suggesting Shah to follow positive, ideological and development oriented politics, Shivpal said he should stop misleading the people of the state.
"He has become short of issues due to better working of SP government and therefore he is giving baseless statements," he said.

He also attacked BSP supremo Mayawati, saying before criticising Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, she must do a reality check.
"She comes to UP like a tourist just to give statements. The Chief Minister has gone to Bundelkhand to accelerate development works and interact directly with the people," he said.

Shivpal accused the BJP of dabbling in "dirty politics" and blaming the Samajwadi Party government.
He said BJP should explain as to why Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not resign from the post of Gujarat Chief Minister after Gujarat riots and was making baseless allegations against him.
Shivpal also claimed that since the NDA government had no achievement to its credit during the two years in office, it was defaming Uttar Pradesh with an eye on the 2017 Assembly elections to divert the attention of the people from the failures of Modi government.
"The voters will give a befitting reply," he said.
Yadav said BJP should not forget that its state unit chief Keshav Prasad Maurya was allegedly involved in various criminal cases and had a tainted image.
On the Mathura violence, he said it was due to administrative laxity. An inquiry is on and the guilty will not be spared, he added.
