SHO, head constable suspended for graft

A police officer and a head constable of Bhawanigarh area have been suspended for allegedly taking bribe to register a case.
Station House Officer Sanjeev Goyal along with Head Constable Devinder Singh were put under suspension on graft charges, a police spokesman said here today.
Singh allegedly took Rs 55,000 from a person for registering a case few months back and the SHO allegedly took Rs 25,000 as bribe in the same case, he said.
A departmental inquiry has also been ordered against the two cops that should be completed within one month for further necessary action, the spokesman added.
Corruption could not be tolerated in one of the best police station, he said.
The Bhawanigarh police station in Sangrur district has earned laurels after being adjudged topper by Altus Global Alliance in August this year for best police services.
Bhawanigarh station was adjudged the best among 396 police stations in Punjab, Chandigarh, Assam and Meghalaya by the Global Alliance.
