The 'Vicky Donor' director, who is heading the jury of Dimensions Mumbai at Mumbai International Film Festival, said the film, starring 'Kai Po Che' star Amit Sadh, is a welcome change after 'Madras Cafe'.
"We have just begun shooting. It is a simple love story of two people surviving in the city of Golden temple. It is about their life and how they grow up. The film deals with what happens when they elope," Sircar told PTI.
"Amit Roy is directing the film. He has shot most of Ram Gopal Varma's films as a cinematographer. We have worked in the past and have been friends since our Delhi days. He came with the script and I liked and we decided to produce it. It helped us get out of the serious mode post 'Madras Cafe'," he said.
"It was a difficult film for me and I was very exhausted after its release. It was daring for me to go into that territory. The film was too direct and sensitive but I tried my best to handle the subject in a way that did not hurt anyone's political standing. Despite that it did not get released in the UK and whole of Tamil Nadu, which was very disappointing," Sircar said.
