A shopping mall near the headquarters of the US Department of Defence here was evacuated today after a bomb threat was made by an anonymous caller.
The Pentagon Center shopping plaza, about two miles from here, was evacuated after someone called in a bomb threat to the shopping center's central office, Arlington police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.
Arlington's police dogs are sweeping the area for bombs now. Because of the large area that they need to search, Arlington police requested assistance from dogs from the Pentagon Force Protection Agency as well, Sternbeck said.
The adjacent Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, better known as the Pentagon City mall, is not affected by the evacuation, Sternbeck and Kedest Firdaweke in the mall's management office said.
Sternbeck said that police were closing roads around the shopping center, and that buses that normally stop in the area were being rerouted, Washington Post reported.
