A total of 25 participants from different R&D Institutions and University/Colleges from different states are attending the programme, inaugurated by Dr K Poulose Jacob, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Cochin University of Science & Technology.
In his inaugural address, the Pro-Vice Chancellor stressed the need for addressing the food safety issues as it was directly related to the health of the consumer.
When one does not have safe water for drinking or processing, extending the requirement for food is rather difficult but is inevitable, he said.
Earlier, Dr T V Sankar, Head, Quality Assurance & Management Division welcomed the gathering.
