Areas across east, west, north and south Delhi faced outages in the range of one to three hours due to the mismatch between demand and supply.
Officials in the power department said the NTPC's Badarpur Thermal Power Station (BTPS) developed a techinical snag at around 8:30 AM which affected supply of 500 MW of power.
The Rajghat power station in the city also developed some technical snags resulting in cut in production of over 100 MW of power.
The maximum power demand in the city today was recorded at 4,658 MW. The power demand in Delhi had touched an all-time high of 5,032 mega watt yesterday.
Residents in various areas of the city complained of power cuts in the range of one to three hours.
"There was no power in our area for three hours," said a resident in Burari area of North West Delhi.

The officials said the BTPS was made functional at around 1 PM and it started producing power.
The erratic power supply also affected various water treatment plants in the city, resulting in shortage of water in various areas.
