High humidity persisted in Delhi causing much discomfort to people even though maximum temperature remained below the 40-degree mark in the national capital.
Humidity levels almost touched 90 per cent during the day while the maximum temperature hit 38.1 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal, and the minimum settled at 25.3 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, the MeT department said.
No rainfall was received in the city during the day, it said.
In the north, Amritsar experienced heavy showers as mercury dipped to below normal levels at several places in Pujab and Haryana today.

Other parts of Punjab did not record any rainfall and Patiala and Ludhiana recorded below-normal maximum temperatures of 38.1 and 37.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Chandigarh registered a high of 37.8 degrees Celsius, the Met department said.
In Haryana, mercury touched a high of 38 degrees Celsius in Ambala while in other places like Hisar, Bhiwani and Narnaul, temperatures dipped by up to six degrees.
The maximum temperature was below 40 degree-mark at most places even as Jaipur and Kota recorded a hot day at 40.2 degrees Celsius, a Met official said.
People in Jaipur were affected by the dust storm which was followed by drizzles and scattered rainfall.
The Met official said no monsoon conditions prevailed over the state, and added that it may hit by month-end.
Light rain occurred at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours bringing down mercury in the state. Etawah recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 44.4 degrees Celsius.
