Shri Venkateswara Collage to get new Science block

Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today laid foundation stone for a new Science Block at Shri Venkateswara College here.
The new block will be built at a cost of Rs 4.50 cr to provide additional laboratory facilities, class rooms and library space.
Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said that to further cause of building a resurgent India, need of the hour is to promote more and more institutions of excellence in various domains.
"Due emphasis also need to be given on imparting moral education as well as physical education to for right personality development among the students. India was once a Vishwa Guru and efforts need to be made to acquire that status in the present context," he said.
Naidu also stressed on the need of making students proficient in the mother languages and they should be taught to "respect mother, mother tongue and motherland".
Educational institutions should focus on development of right kind of skills among the students so that they can stand on their own besides meeting the needs of Make in India campaign.
Referring to incidents of violation of rights and liberties of women, Naidu said that mere legislative initiatives would not be adequate to address them and there is a need for collective social action.
Shri Venkateswara College was founded in 1961 under the auspices of Tiruamala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) with 273 students and 13 staff and has since grown into one of the leading institutions of national capital with 3,800 students and 231 teaching and non-teaching staff.
