: India, with international support, should prevent Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa from taking part in the UN meet, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi chief Thol Thirumavalavan said here today.
Presiding over a protest demonstration, he said the union government should work with world nations to prevent Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa from addressing the UN General Assembly on September 25.
"At a time when Tamils are demanding that Rajapaksa be subjected to international probe for the genocide in Sri Lanka, the nod accorded to him to address the UN meet is like adding salt to wound," he said.
VCK, an ally of the DMK, has also announced that it would support DMK chief M Karunanidhi's appeal to show opposition to Rajapaksa's address to the UN 25 by hoisting black flags and wearing black shirts.
