SI, 1 other killed as truck overturns in UP

Two persons, including a sub-inspector of traffic police, were today killed when a stone-laden truck overturned and fell on them in the Ramadevi area here.
The incident took place this morning when traffic in-charge SI Rajnish Kumar (54) was removing encroachment from the road near the Ramadevi bridge, Kanpur SP (traffic) Sarvanand Yadav said.
The driver of the speeding truck lost control after its tyre burst. The truck then turned over, hitting the scooter of Sajeti village resident Rajesh Kumar (42) and the SI's bike, he said.
Both died on the spot, the senior official said.
Traffic was disrupted for about an hour after the accident.

The bodies were sent for postmortem and the truck has been taken into custody while the search for its driver is on, he said.
