An advocate was allegedly assaulted by a sub-inspector on duty to maintain law and order outside the Civil Lines branch of SBI, following which the police administration put the cop under suspension.
Aabid in a complaint filed at Civil lines police station alleged that an argument erupted between him and Sub-Inspector Ram Chandra while he waiting for his turn to withdraw cash from the bank, and the cop beat him up with a stick.
The advocate alleged he was later detained in the police station.
Later, some of Aabid's colleagues reached the police station and an FIR under relevant sections of IPC was filed in connection with the matter against the Sub-Inspector, who has been suspended by the police department.
Inspector Devendra Sharma said the Sub-Inspector was found guilty of "brutally beating up the advocate" and was suspended immediately.
