"Your future must be a triumph not of the personal will, but of human wisdom. You are graduating at a time that is most opportune for fashioning a knowledge-driven, inclusive India that is a proud member of the comity of nations," he said while addressing the third convocation of the institute here.

"Don't let your country down. This is your century. Your conquests that you will celebrate, in the years to come, must be beyond the self," he said.

He lauded the institute authority for introducing three academic programmes including certificate, diploma and degree, each of two years duration and said this was the need of the present times as qualified persons were required at all three technical levels and not just graduate engineers.

Sibal said the process of globalisation continued to transform the economic play field. Knowledge has acquired a new significance and this is an era where intellectual capital has become the prime mover of organisations and nations.

"My expectation from you is of very high order not only as professionals, but also as intelligent and wise voices in the community that you will now serve. This is the time we need the very best of truly educated minds," he added.
