Dissident Trinamool Congress MLA Sikha Mitra who was suspended from the party last year, today ruled out her resignation as legislator and questioned why other controversial party leaders like Anubrata Mandal would not be meted out with similar treatment by the TMC leadership.
"If I have committed anti-party activity then it is being done by many in the party. Is not the recent comment from a leader (Mandal) threatening to chop-off the hands of Congress workers an anti-party act? Is not the statement of another leader (state food minister Jyotipriya Mullick) comparing the CPI(M) with a serpent an anti-party act?" Mitra told reporters outside the Assembly lobby.
Despite those leaders making such comments they have shared stage with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in various meetings, she alleged.
Claiming that she was yet to receive any suspension letter her from the party, Mitra said "If I have been suspended for anti-party activity as I have heard from the media, I would continue to do so for doing my work properly."
"No, I will not resign. I am elected by voters of my constituency," she said in reply to a question.
