Addressing students of Amity University at a function here, Singh said demographic changes and a fear that power will get transferred from native community to migrants is the root cause of violence that has gripped Assam.
Singh said there was a need for youth in Assam to take over as people have lost faith in the governance.
"Politics has become very narrow and people, in general, have lost faith not only in politicians but also in Bureaucracy. In such a scenario, the new generation has to rebuild Assam," he said.
Giving out his success mantra, the governor advised the students to work hard, think "out of the box", and practice "simple living and high thinking".
