Amid a row over high quantity of lead and MSG in Nestle's Maggi noodles, the Sikkim Government today said it has sent samples of the instant food as well as two other popular snacks to a Public Health Laboratory at Guwahati for tests.
As soon as the first report appeared in the media, the department's Food Safety and Standard Act cell collected Maggi noodles samples and sent them for tests to Public Health Laboratory at Guwahati, the state Health Care, Human Services and Family Welfare Department said in a statement.
The FSSA cell has also sent samples of Wai Wai and Mama Punte to the same laboratory for testing.
"It is expected that the analysis report would be available to us very shortly," the statement said.
The state government has advised public to refrain from consuming Maggi noodles as a precautionary measure.
