Silver prices were trading down 0.17 per cent to Rs 42,859 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced their exposure, driven by a weak trend in global markets.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in July fell by Rs 71, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 42,859 per kg in a business turnover of 17 lots.
On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in May traded lower by Rs 18, or 0.04 per cent, to Rs 42,414 per kg in 195 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in silver prices in futures trade to a weak trend in global markets.
Meanwhile, silver fell 1.06 per cent to USD 17.76 an ounce in New York yesterday.
