In special Muhurat trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) today, silver prices were down by 0.25 per cent to Rs 38,841 per kg as participants locked-in gains to mark the start of Samvat year 2071 with profits.
At the MCX, silver for delivery in far-month March next year eased by Rs 96, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 38,841 per ten grams in a business turnover was 29 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in December fell by Rs 73, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 38136 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,031 lots.
Market participants said off-loading of positions by speculators who opened their accounts with profits on the first day of Samvat year 2071, mainly led to the fall in silver futures prices here.
In the national capital, silver (ready) traded Rs 665 lower at Rs 38,235 per kg in the special Diwali trading session today.
