Amid a weakening trend overseas, silver prices fell Rs 65 to Rs 41,846 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in booking profits.
Silver for delivery in March was trading lower by Rs 65, or 0.16 per cent, to Rs 41,846 per kg in a business turnover of 260 lots in futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).
On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in far-month May was down by Rs 51, or 0.12 per cent, at Rs 42,460 per kg with a business turnover of four lots.
In the international market, silver traded 0.46 per cent lower at USD 17.47 an ounce in Singapore.
Market analysts said a weak trend in precious metals in global markets and profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, mainly weighed on silver futures here.
