Silver prices surged 0.53% to Rs 36,855 per kg in futures trade today largely after speculators enlarged positions, taking positive cues from global market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month May was trading higher by Rs 194, or 0.53%, to Rs 36,855 per kg, in a business turnover of 307 lots.
Also, the white metal for delivery in March rose by Rs 174, or 0.48%, to Rs 36,225 per kg in 70 lots.
In the international market, silver gained 0.34% to $14.94 an ounce in Singapore today.
Market analysts said a firming trend in the global market China growth concern fuelled safe-haven demand, mainly influenced silver futures.
