Tracking a weak global trend silver futures prices today dropped 0.24 per cent to Rs 39,650 per kg as speculators reduced positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in July contracts drifted by Rs 94 or 0.24 per cent to Rs 39,650 per kg in business turnover of 546 lots.
On similar lines, white metal for delivery in far-month September shed Rs 78, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 40,159 per kg in four lots.
Analysts said a weak trend in the precious metals overseas amid profit-booking by speculators, mainly pulled down silver prices at futures trade here.
Meanwhile, silver lost 0.63 per cent to USD 17.33 an ounce in Singapore today.
