Amid profit-booking by participants at existing levels, silver prices fell by Rs 101 at Rs 37,096 per kg in futures trade.

However, a firming trend in the precious metals overseas, capped the losses.

Silver for delivery in March contracts was trading lower by Rs 101, or 0.27%, to Rs 37,096 per kg in a business turnover of 284 lots in futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in far-month May fell by Rs 37, or 0.10% lower, at Rs 37,672 per kg with a moderate business turnover of 2 lots.

In the international market, silver was up 0.13% at $15.29 an ounce in Singapore.

Market analysts said emergence of profit-booking by speculators after recent gains mainly kept pressure on silver futures prices.
