Tracking a weak trend overseas, silver prices came down by 0.21 per cent to Rs 40,347 per kg in futures trade today as speculators cut down their bets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September fell by Rs 85, or 0.21 per cent to Rs 40,347 per kg in a business turnover of 134 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in July declined by Rs 60, or 0.15 per cent to Rs 39,736 per kg in 925 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by participants in line with a weak trend in global markets, mainly led to decline in silver prices at futures trade.
Globally, silver fell 0.55 per cent to USD 16.33 an ounce in Singapore.
