The exchange remained closed in the morning session for 'Ram Navami'.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July surged by Rs 487, or 1.14 per cent, to Rs 43,242 per kg in business turnover of 66 lots.
On similar lines, the silver for delivery in May contracts traded higher by Rs 456, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 42,777 per kg in 2,017 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of a firm trend overseas mainly led to rise in silver prices at futures trade.
