Sindhu jumped two places in the women's singles rankings to be placed at 10th with 55172 points.
The Hyderabadi, who is currently competing in the inaugural Indian Badminton League (IBL), has now joined the elite club of top shuttlers which also features her senior pro and London Olympics bronze medallist Saina Nehwal.
Nehwal retained her fourth position in the rankings despite her straight-game defeat against Korean Yeon Ju Bae in the quarterfinal of the World Championships.
In the men's singles, London Olympics quarter-finalist Parupalli Kashyap gained three places to be placed at 14th.
The next Indian on the list after Kashyap is R M V Gurusaidutt at the 20th position.
Mumbai's Ajay Jairam remained static at 24th position.
