The Deputy Chief Minister has asked the parents of 16 lakh students studying in government schools to celebrate the mega PTM as a festival and said that on the lines of private schools, PTM will now be held at government schools.
Sisodia, who also holds the Education portfolio, said the PTM will be held twice a year to make parents feel proud that they are also part of the several initiatives being taken by the AAP government.
"It is important to communicate the initiatives of Delhi Government in education, so that parents utilize these schemes properly," he said while addressing a press conference.
Sisodia said that in theory, PTMs were supposed to happen at government schools, but they weren't, excluding exceptions, adding that the thought behind this mega event is to open the gates of schools for the parents of the children and leave behind closed spaces in government schools.
Sisodia said government was improving quality of education in its schools everyday through policies, new infrastructure including CCTVs, classrooms and furniture.
He also said that government has directed all its senior officials of the education department including directors, deputy directors, and assistant director to hold a meeting with parents of government schools' students from 12 to 1 PM on Friday every week to address their issues.
