Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today warned of strict action against those anganwadi volunteers who are found to be involved in alleged "irregularities".
Three days after he terminated the services of six officials of anganwadi centres in east Delhi over "gross irregularities", he wrote an open letter to the volunteers making an appeal to them to do their job "honestly".
Sisodia had directed to terminate the services of the anganwadi officials after he found "gross irregularities" during inspection of three anganwadi centres.
The Deputy Chief Minister also cited "wrongdoings" on the part of anganwadi volunteers in his letter.
"The God has given you (anganwadi volunteers) an opportunity to serve the children and this opportunity comes with great fortune. I congratulate anganwadi volunteers who are serving children with honesty, but those who have indulged in irregularities will not be spared," he said.
Last week, Sisodia had also ordered the officials to carry out inspection of the city's 10,000 anganwadi centres.

He had also made an appeal to people to register their complain with the government if they come across any irregularities at anganwadi centres in their localities.
"I inspected six anganwadi centres in East Delhi's Krishna Nagar and Gandhi Nagar area and found gross irregularities at three of the centres.
"At these anganwadis, 75 per cent of children's names in attendance registers turned out to be bogus when I physically visited 200 of registered residences," Sisodia had said after the inspection.
