Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today conducted a surprise check at a government school in the national capital and found that teachers were missing, blackboards damaged and students sitting on carpet.
Sisodia, who is also the Education Minister directed the officials to take measures to address the problems.
"During a surprise visit to Rajkiya Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya (RSBV) in Patparganj, the minister found that many teachers were absent from the classrooms even as many classes did not have desk and benches for students to sit on," a Delhi government official said.
Sisodia said that he will visit the school after a few weeks to check if the problems have been solved or not.
Earlier in the day, he had conducted a surprise visit at the office of deputy director education (east) and directed the vigilance department to maintain files with details of complaints received by them.
Meanwhile, the Minister also visited GB Pant Polytechnic and found that only one teacher was present in the institute.
"I have asked the Directorate of Technical Education to get teachers against the available vacancies at the earliest as my office has already cleared the vacancies," he said.
Recently, the Minister had suspended a placement officer of the institute for allegedly taking bribe for job recommendations on fake certificates.
