In order to ensure better functioning of government schools through maximum participation of parents, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today wrote to members of school management committees (SMCs) seeking their views in this regard.
In his letter, Sisodia, also the Education Minister in Delhi Government, lauded SMC members for bringing about "positive" changes in functioning of schools over the past year, but suggested more needs to be done.
"... After speaking to many of you, it is learnt that (the desired) changes don't take place despite these efforts and activity. We believe views of parents and students are most important. And I want to know your opinions in this regard," he told parents.
Sisodia further sought to know from the SMC members whether the schools they are attached to need any change, if there are hurdles in the functioning of the management committees, what additional roles the members can play and what time they can devote for the purpose next year.
