The accused, identified as Hardev Singh Dhaliwal, a resident of Kishangarh village in Moga, was nabbed from IGI on Tuesday night, Surjit Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Moga, said today.
A lookout notice had also been issued against the accused two years back, he said.
Dhaliwal, who returned from the United States Tuesday, was detained at the airport by the authorities who then alerted the Moga police.
"The SIT rushed to Delhi, arrested the accused and brought him to Moga yesterday. We have secured his remand (from a court) for further investigations," he said.
He said that Dhaliwal had got his passport made allegedly by forging documents related to his residential address in connivance with some police officials.
The Moga passport scam had rocked the State four years back when a case under various Sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act was initially registered against three constables, who were working in the SSP office here, the kingpins who were later dismissed from the service.
So far 100 people had been arrested in the scam that includes policemen, some NRIs, postal employees, the employees of the Chandigarh's passport office and some travel agents, Surjit Singh said.
