The overall situation on the ground in Jammu and Kashmir has undergone a "perceptible change" for the good and logistic requirement of the Army to deal with internal strife has considerably reduced, Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed said today.
He complimented the Army for its role in securing borders and safeguarding the lives of the people in the state even while calling for greater synergy between Army and the administration in addressing issues of mutual concern.
"There is a perceptible change for the good in the overall situation on the ground. The logistic requirement of the Army to deal with internal strife has considerably reduced," Sayeed said while chairing the Civil-Military Liaison (CML) meet, according to an official spokesman.
The CML meeting, held after nearly two years, was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, top Army commanders, Chief Secretary B R Sharma, Director General of Police K Rajendra and senior civil officers.
Sayeed said the CML Conference has been organized to evolve consensus, particularly on "core issues".
"Such conferences forge better coordination between the Army and the civil administration in the larger interests of the state," he said stressing upon regular meetings to forge a way ahead in finding a "common ground".
The Chief Minister talked about the Agenda of the Alliance of the PDP-BJP government, an important component of which is resolution of issues regarding vacation or regularization of land and payment of rentals amicably between the Army and the Civil Administration in a time-bound manner.
