Six arrested for cheating in SSC exam

Six candidates have been arrested for allegedly cheating in Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examination held on September 29 using mobile phones and Bluetooth devices, police said today.
As per police, Hemant Maan (24), Sunil Kumar (25), Arvind Kumar (24), Virender Singh (24), Yogender (31) and Shailender Pratap (25) were arrested from four different examination centres in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh by the Crime Branch of Delhi police.
They have been taken on ten days police custody for conducting further investigations in the case. All the youths are well educated and hail from Delhi and adjacent areas of National Capital Region in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, police said.
"Reliable inputs were received by us that the papers of SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination 2013 on September 29 were likely to be leaked out at various centres," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
The inputs said that the solved answer keys of the question papers will be sent to a number of candidates through SMS and many of the candidates would also be using Bluetooth devices. The input further said that this cheating was likely to at various centres in Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana etc, he said.
Besides these general inputs, there was some specific inputs that some candidates appearing at Vidya Bal Bhawan, Sr. Sec. School, in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar Phase-III, Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in south Delhi's Ambedkar Nagar, I.P.E.M. International School and College at Civil Lines in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh and Daya Vidya Mandir at Moti Nagar in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow would indulge in cheating using modern technology, said Yadav.
Following the input, the premises were raided and the six youth have been arrested, police said.

According to Yadav, it was widespread racket. "Large sums of money are being exchanged to facilitate the leakage of paper," he said.
The combined graduate level (tier-II) SSC examination was conducted at different venues across Delhi and some other cities of India on Sunday for the recruitment of Income Tax Inspectors, Excise Inspectors and Sub Inspectors in Central Bureau of Investigation and other organisations.
Earlier, this year the Crime Branch had arrested 12 youths for cheating in RPF examination conducted on June 30 and 14 people in SSC paper, held on April 21, police said.
