Six persons have been arrested for allegedly murdering three persons near Alwar bridge falling under the highway police station about four days ago, Uttar Pradesh police said today.
Acting on a tip off, the six accused were arrested during vehicle checking drive by SWAT team led by Deputy SP Mukul Dwivedi, a senior official said, adding the alleged mastermind of the murder Radhye Shyam, however, managed to escape.
"They have confessed that they were hired for murder by Radhye Shyam for Rs 3.50 lakh. He had paid them through cheque but bounced," SSP Akhilesh Kumar Meena said.
He said that Radhye Shyam, who along with one more accused managed giving a slip to police, would be nabbed shortly. Police has announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for those providing information about them.
Meena said, had they not been arrested, they would have killed Radhye Shyam also as the cheque of Rs 3.50 lakh which he had given to them had bounced.
"They, in fact, got just Rs 850 in the beginning," Meena said, adding they would have murdered him also if he would not have paid amount in lieu of bounced cheque.
The country-made pistol and the knife used in the murder of Ramendra and Mukesh -- both resident of Alwar in Rajasthan and Arvind, a resident of Haryana, on the intervening night of February 24 and 25 have also been recovered.
