The Jammu and Kashmir Police's crime branch today booked six people, including two from Delhi, for allegedly duping an unemployed youth of Rs 1.24 lakh on the pretext of recruiting him in a private job.
Separate cases have been registered by the Jammu crime branch against the accused -- Rajesh Kumar and Sumit Kumar of Delhi, Sushil Kumar and Dhanjy Parsad Yadav of Darjeeling in West Bengal, and Aman Kumar and Sandeep Kumar of Sonipat in Haryana, a senior officer said.
According to the complaint filed by Mohammad Subhan Lone of Kachwari Khansahib in Budgam district at the Kashmir crime branch, he came across an advertisement in a daily newspaper in Jammu regarding requirement of staff at the installation of a tower of a private mobile phone services operator and contacted the 'advertiser' for a job.
When he contacted them, Rajesh Kumar asked him to deposit Rs 3,500, Rs 55,000, Rs 39,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 11,600 -- making in all Rs 1,24,100 -- in bank accounts as processing fees and tax etc. Later, the youth realised that the accused had cheated him and filed a complaint with the crime branch.
During investigation, it was found that the bank accounts were in the name of Sumit Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Dhanjy Parsad Yadav, Aman Kumar and Sandeep Kumar, the officer said.
The accused published the advertisement in the newspaper with an aim to dupe unemployed youths, he said, adding that they were further investigating into the matter.
