The accused were involved in the theft of sandalwood and red sanders kept in the Inland Container Depot at Irugur after attacking the watchman on April 24.
They were arrested while transporting the wood, seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, on the bypass road.
Considering their involvement in various other cases, including waylaying and robbery, police commissioner, A K Vishwanathan today ordered their detention under Goondas Act which was served on the accused lodged in the Central Jail here, a release said.
